Karnatak University Dharwad has revised its Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The updated curriculum emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, flexibility in course selection, and skill enhancement to better prepare students for the evolving IT industry

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Duration: The BCA program spans six semesters over three years.
- Credits: A total of 144 credits are required to complete the program.
- Course Components:
- Discipline Specific Courses (DSC): Core subject’s fundamental to computer applications.
- Elective Courses (EC):
- Discipline Specific Electives (DSE): Advanced topics within the computer science discipline.
- Generic Electives (GE): Subjects that provide interdisciplinary exposure.
- Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC):
- Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC): Courses like Environmental Science, Indian Constitution, and language studies.
- Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC): Practical courses designed to impart industry-relevant skills.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Minimum 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examinations.
- For B.C.A Programme, a candidate with PUC/10+2 Science or Commerce with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Accountancy / Computer Science or 3-year Diploma with Computer Science / Information Science or 2-year JOC / ITI with Computer Science, shall be eligible.
